It is late in the evening. I have just had my evening tea, a cup of fresh peppermint tea to calm my stomach a bit before sleep. I love the ritual having tea becomes for me in this moment. The hugging of the cup in my hands, feeling the warmth seep into my fingers, sniffing the tea and smiling at the scent.
Then, when the tea is cool enough, the joy of taking the first sip, blowing at the surface of the tea to cool it down just a little bit more before I take the sip.
No matter how busy my day has been, no matter how much I have done or not done, the moment with my cup of tea in the evening is so sacred, so blissful.I find stillness in my reflection in the tea. I find it in the sips I take until the mug is empty and I set it aside on the nightstand.
Drinking my peppermint tea is such a joyful moment of closing out my day and through it, I find the stillness in my mind that I need to fall asleep.
