Finding Stillness – dance

Finding Stillness is a weekly series on ways I find stillness without meditating. Follow the tag to read the other posts.


I put on a favorite album, and close my eyes.

My body starts to move. Breathe in, sway, breathe out, step.

I move, erratically. Arms find their way above my head and down to my hips.

My hips turn, I start to smile.

Step, swish.

I feel my whole body, every muscle becomes breath, every step becomes joy.

When I open my eyes I can’t tell how much time has passed. All there is, is pure joy and stillness.

My body stands still and I smile.

Then the next track begins. I close my eyes and start anew.
