This is a crosspost from a Simple Blissful Life. It is one of the posts in my continuing series on Finding Stillness, my ways of becoming still within within without meditating. Follow the tag to read the other posts.
I have a wild, creative mind, and finding stillness with a mind like mine is SO hard.
Sitting still when meditating only works for a while, and I have to swat thoughts away every breath. I am keeping it up, though, as I know how good it is for me.
That is because there is one thing that gets me into an instant quiet space, and that is knitting socks.
When I knit, my breathing slows down, my hands are action and my mind just drifts off into nowhere.
When I am done knitting, I have no idea how much time has passed, or how much I have actually knitted.
And that is what I love about the meditativeness of knitting, in the activity I find my stillness.
