Untangling a knot

I have tangled up my yarn
And calmly pull the thread
To remove the knot
One twist at a time
My mind wonders
Aimlessly
Why I am so calm
Just taking my time
To untangle the yarn
Suddenly having patience
The kind of thing I never had
I don’t know the answer
I just know that
I am so calm when
I move to untangle the thread
Every pull is breathing,
Every length I roll up
Is a quietly celebrated victory
I smile at myself
Content
And know that even
This simple thread of
Purple dyed wool
Is a teacher
In stillness
