Focusing on what’s important

I have blogged for at least 15 years. Not all the blog posts I have ever written are available here, but a lot of them are.

This past week I was sick in bed and worked on some long overdue tasks. One of them was importing blog posts from some of my first blogs.

Why? Because I felt it was very important to me to see the progress in my writing. To see how my writing style has evolved over the years.

I never bothered to transfer those blogs in the past. I have tried so many blogging systems over the years and they weren’t compatible.

Anyway, back to my old blog posts. When I started blogging, my focus was on writing, and I had several live journal accounts. Then, in 2007, I started a new blog called Simply Blissful.

As I added the blog posts from that site to my blog, I noticed something in me. I yearned for the Sylvia I was then.

I was so driven, so joyous, so open to lots of new ideas. On that blog, I wrote about everything that made me feel blissful, and reading about that made the bliss come back tenfold. I wrote about creative exploits and about meditation and so many other things.

It’s a completely different focus from where I was before I moved away from simply blissful and into blogging under my own name.

The funny thing is, bliss was always there in my posts, but this went so much deeper. I saw my life in those posts.

So, that is where this blog comes in.

I have wanted to move away from Blogger for a while now, not because I don’t like it a lot, but because the writing software I use has an option of exporting directly into WordPress.

And, as I had learned so much from reading through and importing my old blog posts, I knew that I wanted to go back to a dedicated blog, not just one using only my name.

I will use my personal domain name as a general catch-all, with a listing of my book and of my upcoming mailing list and such, but this is going to be my blog.

I can already feel the zeal for life coming back to me 🙂
